HYDERABAD: The stage is set for transfers of teachers on a large scale, following the issuing of new guidelines, related to upgradation posts of secondary grade teachers.
In order to upgrade the posts of secondary grade teachers as school assistants, the state government has decided to ‘designate, accommodate and adjust the existing school assistants’ to fill 15,968 newly-created posts of English and physical sciences teachers.

While the secondary grade teachers will be upgraded as school assistants, the existing school assistants are expected to face the brunt of the new exercise in the form transfers.
School education director Manmohan Singh on Wednesday issued certain guidelines, asking all the school assistants to exercise their option on the subject of their interest (to teach) from the academic year 2002-2003.They will have to place this on record even if they want to continue with the present subject of they are teaching. In case two persons for one subject, a secondary grade teacher who is being elevated school assistant, will be given preference while the existing assistant be transferred to another school where a post is vacant for that particular subject. The junior-most teachers in the cadre will be directly transferred while the seniors will have a say in recommending or preventing their transfers. “The option exercised is final,� a guideline says.
The eligible teachers will be designated as school assistants for physical science or English as per the qualification prescribed under the service rules. The existing school assistants (science) posts will be treated school assistants (biological science) and those with physical science methodology subject will be adjusted in the same school as assistants (physical science).
